South Gippsland Shire is a spectacular part of Victoria with rolling green hills and magnificent coastal views situated about 90 minutes drive from Melbourne. It boasts some of the nation’s best agricultural land and features many charming towns and villages. Its largest centres are Leongatha, Korumburra, Mirboo North and Foster.

South Gippsland has a population of about 30,000 people and a thriving economy with over 7,000 businesses contributing to an annual output of $3.7 billion.

The economy is centred on agriculture, food processing, construction, health care and retail. It is Australia’s dairy capital, with beef, sheep, potatoes and snow peas also major economic contributors. Specialty food production, including cheese, wine, spirits and beer, is a rapidly developing sector.

Tourism is a growing industry with over a million visitors a year attracted to the area’s beautiful scenery. This includes the world-famous Wilsons Promontory National Park and a coastline that stretches for over 300 kilometres.
