What is the business awards?

Gippsland Business Awards (GBA) is the region’s leading business awards event, celebrating the achievements of successful businesses from across Gippsland. Operating since 1998, GBA is an independent association run by a voluntary Committee that manages the awards and judging process.

Entering the awards gives business owners the opportunity to be assessed against their peers, with finalists and winners not only promoted across Gippsland but also able to champion their success in their marketing materials, setting them apart from their competitors. Throughout Gippsland, many businesses who have been finalists over the last 20 plus years continue to proudly promote their accomplishments in the GBA.

How do the business awards work?

Entrants complete an entry providing a description of their business, its goals and growth. All entries within a category are assessed by two different judges, these assessments are peer reviewed and finalists are selected.

The finalists are further assessed by another two judges, including undergoing a telephone interview (and/or a site visit, which may be a mystery shop) with their responses to nominated questions being assessed. All ratings are then used to determine the category winners, with all category winners being reviewed to determine the Business of the Year.

Submit a nomination

The first part of the process is to nominate a business (it can be your own). Once a nomination is completed, the nominated business receives an email with a unique link to the GBA website where they can complete their entry.

Complete your nomination

Once a business receives the unique link, they provide some additional information and prepare answers to the entry questions. This includes a businesses overview, goals and achievements. Ideally this should be prepared off line (in a Microsoft Word document for example) and then be cut and pasted into the entry portal (using the link previously sent via email).

Be recognised for your hard work and the impact created by your business.

Entering the Gippsland Business Awards provides participants with the opportunity to stop and reflect on their businesses. Those who become finalists or winners get celebrated at the GBA awards events, receive recognition in local media and have the opportunity to promote their GBA status in their business’ marketing.
