Business of the Year Selection Criteria đź“‹

The Business of the Year award recognises a GBA category winner who demonstrates exceptional all‑round performance, industry leadership, and a strong commitment to the Gippsland region.

While judging begins with the scores awarded within each entrant’s individual category, the final selection reflects a broader assessment of business excellence, including their:
  • Innovation, integrity, creativity, effectiveness, and growth.
  • Business leadership and future vision.
  • Customer focus and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Staff training, development, and engagement.
  • Environmental responsibility and community impact.
  • Commitment to equality, inclusivity, and diversity.
  • Adoption and use of technology.
Ultimately, the Business of the Year award recipient is seen as a “standard bearer” for business success in Gippsland, representing the region’s values, resilience, and aspirations.
After individual category scoring is completed, the full judging panel meets to discuss, evaluate, and agree upon the most deserving candidate. This collaborative adjudication ensures the Business of the Year recipient represents the highest standard of excellence demonstrated in the year’s awards.
