Federation University is regional Victoria’s largest education institution with campuses in Gippsland, Ballarat, Berwick and the Wimmera. We offer a range of courses that link directly to current industry trends. But what we’re most proud of is our diverse student community.

Federation University first started as The School of Mines in Ballarat in 1870. Since then, we’ve grown and changed, merged with other institutions, established local and global partnerships, and produced over 123,000 graduates.

At the Federation University Churchill Campus, we combine world-class teaching and research with a commitment to local and regional engagement. We support Gippsland business by providing the skills required for the workforce of tomorrow through our diverse course offerings including nursing and allied health, education and social work, science, engineering and business.

Our new co-operative education model is all about collaborating with industry to produce job-ready graduates. In addition, we are supporting the region’s transition to clean energy with the establishment of the Australia Pacific Renewable Energy Training Centre.

At Federation, we know that working with our local (and global) communities strengthens the connection between education and industry, graduates and employers. We recognise that education is evolving, and Federation University is adapting to ensure that we meet these new expectations.
