Bass Coast Shire is one of Victoria’s fastest growing rural municipalities. It located in Victoria, about 130 kilometres south-east of Melbourne and has a unique combination of unspoiled coastline and picturesque hinterland.

Bass Coast’s main centres are Wonthaggi, Cowes (Phillip Island), Inverloch, San Remo and Grantville. It also includes townships of Almurta, Anderson, Archies Creek, Bass, Corinella, Coronet Bay, Cowes, Dalyston, Glen Alvie, Glen Forbes, Grantville, The Gurdies, Inverloch, Jam Jerrup, Kernot, Kilcunda, Krowera, Lance Creek, Pioneer Bay, Pound Creek, Ryanston, San Remo, Tenby Point, Wattle Bank, West Creek, Wonthaggi, Woodleigh, Woolamai and parts of Lang Lang and Kongwak.

Bass Coast is home to more than 30,000 permanent residents and has more than 3.4 million visitors each year. During peak holiday periods, our population swells to over 80,000.
