Finalists in this year’s Federation Business School Gippsland Business Awards have “really earned their stripes”, being selected from the largest number of entries in several years.
The finalists were announced this week, with 46 businesses making it to the final group in 11 industry and specialist categories. The whole of the region was well represented.
Gippsland Business Awards committee chairperson, Graeme Sennett, said there was an increase in the number of entries this year with the standard extremely competitive. “The award entries again demonstrate the diverse and inspiring range of Gippsland’s small to medium businesses,” he said.
The categories include Accommodation, Beauty and Personal Care, Business and Professional Services, Food Wine Producers, Health and Well Being, Hospitality, Manufacturing / Export, Mechanical Trades and Construction, New Business, Retail, Tourism Activities and Attractions.
Each of the category winners will be announced at the gala presentation evening, this year on Friday 31 August at the Premiere Function Centre in Traralgon. The major winner, the Gippsland Business of the Year, will come from the category winners and also be announced at the presentation evening.
“With the amount of entries this year, the judging process has been extremely difficult but we are delighted with the number and quality of entries,” Mr Sennett said. “Those businesses who have made it to the finals can be very proud because the competition was intense.
“Along with the status of appearing on the regional stage at the Federation Business School awards, many businesses use the process as a means of improving themselves. It’s a really good self-assessment tool.”
In 2017, nearly 400 people attended the Gala Awards night, which recognises the achievements of the finalists, celebrates the winners and is a networking opportunity for these leading Gippsland businesses.
