Businesses Get Ready for Major Gippsland Awards

Businesses from across Gippsland will soon be gearing up for the new look Gippsland Business Awards, which will be officially launched on Friday 7 April.

The business awards this year have a new naming rights sponsor, Federation Business School, which is recognition by Federation University of the critical role business plays in dev eloping sustainable communities.

The awards will again have a wide variety of categories that provide participation opportunities for businesses of all sizes. The categories include Manufacturing and/or Export, Food and Wine Production, Retail, Services – Trade and Construction, Hospitality, Services – Business and Professional, Services – Personal and Other, New Business, Accommodation, Franchises and Tourism.

Chair of the Federation Business School Gippsland Business Awards, Graeme Sennett, said businesses from across the region would benefit from entering the awards.

“Entry in the awards is an excellent opportunity for businesses to have a close look at how they operate and areas in which they can improve, just by going through the nomination and entry process,” he said. “The Federation Business School Gippsland Business Awards are one of the few events that allow us to come together and celebrate the achievements of the whole of the Gippsland area.”

Associate Professor Bob O’Shea, the Executive Dean of Federation Business School, said the Gippsland Business Awards are an important part of that capacity building process.

“They celebrate the diversity of our thriving business community and showcase creativity and enterprise. They are a valuable tool to promote business success and publically recognise exceptional achievement.”

In 2015 nearly 400 people attended the Gala Awards night, recognition of the wonderful networking opportunity.  This year’s awards night will be held on Friday 26 August.

The Awards are now open with nominations closing on 31 May, giving local businesses nearly two months to enter.

Nominations for the 2017 awards can be submitted on the Federation Business School Gippsland Business Awards website at www.gba.org.au  Once a business is nominated, it then receives a unique email link to complete its entry. All entries are completed on-line.

The launch was held at Scribblevision’s creative studio in Traralgon, with local government and corporate sponsors are also continuing to back the Gippsland Business Awards.

“We are urging Gippsland businesses to recognise their own achievements and celebrate excellence in business by participating in the 2017 awards,” Mr Sennett added.
